A Little About
Erin Lee
Growing up I was drawn to golden age musicals. I'd spend my sick days watching That's Entertainment with Kelly and Astaire on repeat, loving the art form and wishing that those films were still made today. Singing and dancing was all I wanted to do, and I found my way to the stage by the ripe age of 3. If requested I'm sure my mom could find a video of me singing "Castle On A Cloud" in the itchiest costumes ever forced to wear by mankind.
My passion for musicals continued to grow and I ended up majoring in musical theatre at the University of Washington, while performing at multiple community theaters across the Seattle area. There I learned that my voice had a very particular set of skills, as I played multiple flip-gendered roles and could hit the odd range of notes with ease. Here I played dream roles I never even knew existed for me, such as Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, Guido in Nine and Molokov in Chess.
Taking Shakespeare and Ibsen classes in college I grew an even deeper love for acting. My dreams of being a chorus girl flipped and all I wanted to do was obsess over the psyche's of these complex humans over text. So, I made my way to the big apple to study Practical Aesthetics at the Atlantic Acting school.
I quickly became acquainted with some NYU Composer grads and was doing workshops for new musicals whenever I got the chance. I love the possibilities new works give me to play. I can bring my authentic self to a character more than with a standard book musical. I don't have to be my version of Kristen Chenoweth or Idina Menzel, I can just be me. Plus, my snappy timing and creative wit proved to be beneficial on the developmental floor.
After the blunder that was COVID 19, I found my way to Los Angeles on a total fluke, and ended up really liking it here. I’ve found a new creative home still doing new works, musicals, and film projects with the new community I’ve met.
